Registration
For both diesel fleets and owner/operators, Clean Truck Check requirements began in 2023. To bring your vehicles into compliance your first step is registering every qualified vehicle in CARB’s Clean Truck Check database (CTC-VIS). Our team will ensure a smooth registration process.
Compliance Fees
You must pay a $32.13 compliance fee for every qualified vehicle operating in California in 2023. For 2024, if a vehicle’s compliance deadline falls between July and December, another compliance fee will be due. This annual fee will be a regular part of your CTC compliance requirements.
Emissions Testing Requirements
Regular emissions testing begins in 2025. Every vehicle in your fleet must be tested twice per year. In 2027, the testing schedule jumps to four times per year for OBD testing. Most qualified vehicles must undergo an OBD test. Pre-2013 engines will require the older opacity test twice a year All tests must be carried out by a credentialed tester.
Diesel Motorhome Notes
If your diesel motorhome has a GVWR of more than 14,001 pounds and is registered in California, the CTC regulations listed above apply. You must register your vehicle and pay the compliance fee. However, motorhomes only require testing once per year.
Out-of-State Trucks Notes
CTC requirements apply to vehicles registered outside of California that operate on state highways. You must register every vehicle in your fleet, pay the compliance fee, and receive scheduled emissions tests to continue driving in the state.
